Our Story

Chances are if you have made it this far, then you know we are building a house! But, let me fill you in a little bit on how we got this far.

[WARNING: our story may persuade you to do something drastic and out of the norm.]

My husband and I have spent 30+ years of our life in a little town in North Carolina. I was born and raised there & he rolled in when he was just a toddler. In 2012, we bought what we thought would be our forever home. We were in love! It was a cute little house sitting on 5 acres, secluded and had so much potential. We poured our hearts into this house and worked countless hours on making it come to life. As much as we made it our own and done all the things, it never really felt like "home".

After a while it began to feel like we were just spinning our wheels trying to make this place home and it just wasn't. I'll be honest, 2021 was a bad year for us and we knew something had to change. We started to throw around the idea of selling out and moving out of town. At first, it was a joke my husband and I would throw around. I mean, we couldn't possibly just up and leave all we have ever known. "That is crazy" is something we repeated to each other when the idea was brought up. I guess as we both started to ponder on it separately, the more appealing it sounded when we discussed it together.

So, we made the leap of listing our home. Let me also say, we bought our home in foreclosure back in 2012 and we put ALOT into this house. So much so, we had a shocking amount of sweat equity in it. We ended up going under contract in the fall of 2022 & successfully closed in September of 2022.

What do we do now? We began the search for what our hearts needed & ended up scoping out 30 acres in the beautiful hills of East Tennessee. We always wanted the acreage & the middle of nowhere type of feel. From the moment we stepped foot on this property, we felt an overwhelming sense of home. We didn't want to leave. My husband began the wheeling & dealing part of things (my nerves were shot). Just 1 month after we closed on our house, we were owners of 30 acres in East Tennessee! WHOOHOO!

From there it was a roller coaster ride of planning, permits & moving a family of 4 + 3 dogs. We lucked up with a rental just 20 minutes from the property, moved in and started the "Under Construction" life.
